Who is Gene Whitten?

About Me

Thank you for visiting my page! My name is Gene Whitten. I am a licensed counselor in the state of Indiana. As a Christian counselor, I use my faith to help guide my decisions in my personal life and practice. I have a passion for working with male teens, adult men, and all things family. A lot of my education comes from life experiences. Married for 30 years. My wife and I raised 4 wonderful children, 3 boys, and 1 girl. The rest of my education comes from institutions of higher learning, Lincoln Christian University and Huntington University.

Where I’ve been

I have worked with men and male teens for over 18 years. Most of this is through mentorships, church, non-profit organizations, and now through mental health. My passion lies with men who feel beat up and lesser than what society says they should be; men who find themselves in the father role when their father was not around (either physically or emotionally). I can relate!

During these 18 years, I have also had the opportunity to work with struggling families through organizations such as the Indiana Department of Child Services, Rescare, and Ireland Home-Based Services. These organizations provided me with the knowledge base and experience needed to do the work I currently do through Gateway Counseling Inc.

What I do now

Gene Whitten is available for speaking engagements and seminars. He also conducts workshops on ways to protect your children and teens from porn and other negative experiences while online. Gene also provides a parent intensive. This intensive provides techniques and tools needed to help them manage negative teen behaviors.
